Scholarship and Award Calender

Entering college and university for the first time means many new experiences. From learning the layout of the campus, buying your books and making new friends, it can feel like a whole new world. One new experience that you might not have considered is applying for a scholarship or bursary. That little extra financial help could make your transition easier. Financial awards are usually given on the basis of a combination of academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and financial need.

Below is a scholarship and award calender which can provide help for senior students looking to apply for scholarships and bursaries.

December	Miller Thomson Foundation National Scholarship	$1000 (200)	In addition to the candidate's academic abilities, the Board of Governors will evaluate the candidate's contribution to their school and their community through their involvement in extracurricular activities. April	The Carol Anne Letheren Leadership and Sport Scholarship	$1500 per 3 years	Be a female student presently applying to a Canadian University or college in Business, Sport Management, Marketing, physical education of related fields. April	Engineers without Borders Get Outside your World Essay and Media Contest	$250-$1000	For your entry - whether it's an essay, video, or photo collage - answer one of the following two questions: Considering the crisis of global poverty, explain 3 actions we can take to alleviate poverty. Describe 1 action taken by individuals (like yourself), the next by your community, and thirdly by Canada as a nation. Describe an action you want to take or have already taken. June	BigSun Scholarship	$500	All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute.
